This was the Memorial Dedication at West Shore Little League on Saturday, April 27, 2002. That first photo is of a newly installed street sign within the little league grounds, while in the background you see the old Wallenstein's / Cross Sinclair buliding. Then we have the McAvoy family being presented with a plaque, as Micheal McAvoy had some very warm, heart-felt words for us. Then the Ladley family was also presented with a plaque, with Mr. Ladley reminding us all... to never forget!
The monument is beautiful! In fact, you should make a point of it to visit the little league and see it first hand. 14 was Jimmy's number while playing at West Shore. There is one sign hanging in left-center field of the Tori field, and one hanging in right field of the Babe Ruth field.
The Memory of... sign is hanging on the newly completed practice fields that reside along Dixon Ave.
There were many people there that day. Family, friends, firefighters, and police officers. It was such a beautiful, sun-filled day outside. But I know that there was not one person present that day, that wouldn't take a lifetime of bad weather in it's place, just to undo what happened....
